The 22-year-old winger joins Aston Villa after a mixed spell at Stamford Bridge, where he struggled to consistently impact matches. Garnacho’s exit coincides with Chelsea’s record £117 million signing of Morgan Rogers from Villa. The Argentine was acquired by Chelsea last September for £40 million from Manchester United, where he had developed through the youth ranks and made 144 senior appearances. Despite featuring in 43 games for Chelsea last season, he scored only eight goals and provided four assists, which left him surplus to requirements.

Adding Garnacho is part of Villa’s busy transfer window, which has already brought Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes, and Modou Keba Cisse to the club. The team has generated close to £200 million through player sales, including departures of Youri Tielemans and Donyell Malen, enabling Emery to focus on key signings that enhance the squad’s balance.

If the loan turns permanent, Garnacho has already agreed to a four-year contract with Aston Villa, signaling confidence in his role as a future team cornerstone. Manchester United will benefit from a 10% sell-on clause from any permanent transfer, a term established when Garnacho moved to Chelsea in 2025.
