Barcelona Pursue Pedro Porro Amid Koundé Uncertainty

According to Metro, citing Spanish reports, the Catalan club have opened contact with the camp of Tottenham full-back Pedro Porro to test the ground for a summer move, with Arsenal monitoring Jules Koundé. The message from Barcelona is clear: they do not want to be caught unprepared.

Inside the club, Koundé’s situation is the hinge on which the whole plan swings. He has not pushed to leave. He has not publicly angled for a move. His future, though, is not nailed down either, and that grey area has been enough to trigger action.
Journalist Gerard Romero reported on his YouTube channel that Barcelona have intensified talks with Porro’s representatives in recent days and even put an initial proposal on the table for his agents. This is not a casual enquiry. It is groundwork.
Koundé remains under contract and content for now, but with Arsenal circling and the market always volatile, Barcelona are treating this as a live issue rather than a distant problem.
Porro ticks the boxes
Porro, 26, has grown into one of Tottenham’s standout performers. His attacking thrust from full-back, his delivery, and his work rate have turned him into a key figure in north London. On the international stage, he started most of Spain’s matches during their run to lifting the last World Cup, underlining his status at the highest level.
Tottenham moved to secure him long term last June, handing him a new deal that runs until 2031. He is not on the fringes there either. Coach Roberto De Zerbi regards him as an important player, one who can influence games in both penalty areas.
That is precisely why Barcelona are interested. They are not just hunting a specialist right-back. They want someone who can slide across the back line, cover multiple roles, and adapt if Koundé moves on or if the system shifts during the season. Porro’s versatility makes him an almost tailor-made option for that brief.
The negotiations are still at the exploratory stage, and Koundé has yet to show any desire to force a departure. But Barcelona have made their move. If the dominoes start to fall in defence this summer, they intend to be ready.
