Barcelona Secures Karim Adeyemi on Five-Year Deal

Barcelona have officially signed Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, with the forward agreeing to a five-year contract at Camp Nou. The transfer fee remains undisclosed by the clubs, but reports from ESPN suggest an initial payment of €22 million (£18.8 million), with up to €7 million (£6 million) in additional clauses.

As part of the agreement, Dortmund is set to receive a percentage from any future profit if Barcelona sells Adeyemi later on.

Adeyemi’s Career Path and Stats

Adeyemi's early years included time in Bayern Munich's youth setup before making his professional breakthrough at Red Bull Salzburg in 2018. During his spell there, he netted 33 goals and delivered 24 assists over 94 appearances.

After moving to Dortmund in 2022, he played 146 matches across all competitions, scoring 36 goals and assisting 25 times. Adeyemi also has 48 Champions League appearances, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists. His arrival joins the likes of Anthony Gordon, who recently transferred from Newcastle United, strengthening Barcelona’s offensive options.

"FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for the transfer of forward Karim Adeyemi, who has signed a contract with the Catalans until 2031," the club announced."Throughout his career, he has demonstrated versatility, able to play on either wing or as a central striker, blending rapid pace with a powerful left foot. These traits offer valuable options for Hansi Flick, who is familiar with him from his time giving Adeyemi his German national team debut while coaching during Adeyemi's Salzburg days."

When Will Adeyemi Make His Debut?

Adeyemi was not part of Germany’s squad for the 2026 World Cup and carries no injury concerns, so he is expected to be available immediately. He might miss the upcoming pre-season friendly against CE Europa, but he is likely to travel with Barcelona to England next week.

His first appearance could come in the friendly against Birmingham City on July 31. Officially, his debut for Barcelona under Flick may happen in La Liga’s opening fixture against Elche on August 23.
