Celtic Break Transfer Record to Sign Kasper Hogh
Celtic have torn up their transfer ceiling to land Kasper Hogh – in a club-record deal that underlines just how serious the champions are about the season ahead.
An agreement worth more than £11million has been thrashed out with Bodo/Glimt for the prolific Danish striker, a fee that will eclipse the £11m paid for Arne Engels two years ago once add-ons are triggered. Hogh is now poised to travel for a medical in the coming days and, if all goes to plan, will sign a long-term contract at Parkhead.

The board have thrown their weight behind Martin O'Neill with the most expensive signing in Celtic’s history, arming the manager with a centre-forward whose numbers in Norway and Europe demand attention. Hogh, 25, hit 54 goals and 22 assists in 103 games for Bodo/Glimt, powering a side that refused to be overawed on the continental stage.
His European resume is even more eye-catching. Standing 6ft 1in, Hogh struck six times in last season’s Champions League as Bodo/Glimt battled their way to the last 16. He scored against Sturm Graz, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Sporting Lisbon, and produced a ruthless double against Manchester City. These are not padded stats against minnows; they are goals against the elite.
Now he will be asked to bring that edge to Glasgow.
Hogh will spearhead a new-look £17m frontline alongside Camilo Duran, the £6m recruit from Qarabag. Duran also found his range on the biggest stage last term, hitting five goals in the Champions League. Between them, Celtic are banking on power, movement and a penalty-box instinct that can change tight European nights and rip through domestic defences.
The timing is no accident. Celtic have moved aggressively after Daizen Maeda’s departure to Ipswich Town, a deal that banked an initial £8m with a further £2m in potential add-ons. One major attacker has gone; two have arrived, and both come with European pedigree.
The rebuild does not stop at the front line. Talks continue with Bundesliga side Paderborn over a £4m move for midfielder Mika Baur as O'Neill looks to refresh the engine room. On the flanks, Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan has also emerged as a key target, with Celtic pushing to add pace and creativity before the Champions League play-off next month.
The message from Parkhead is unmistakable: this is a squad being tooled up not just to defend domestic dominance, but to walk into Europe with far more firepower than before. The fee for Hogh sets a new bar.
