Champions League 2026/27 Draw: Schedule, Seedings & Live Broadcast Info

As the 2026/27 European football season gets underway, attention turns to the Champions League draw for the league phase. The continent’s top clubs prepare to compete for Europe's most prestigious club trophy, with Paris Saint-Germain aiming for an unprecedented three consecutive titles. Many elite teams have already qualified, but some battled through qualifiers to secure their spots.

José Mourinho's Real Madrid seeks to end their recent dry spell, while Arsenal, runners-up last year, hope to claim their first Champions League crown after strengthening their squad. The competition promises fierce battles across Europe.

Draw Details

  • Date: August 27, 2026
  • Time: 5pm BST / 12 noon ET
  • Location: Grimaldi Forum, Monaco

The official league phase draw will take place at Monaco's Grimaldi Forum. Reshmin Chowdhury will host, assisted by UEFA deputy secretary general Giorgio Marchetti and journalist Pedro Pinto. UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin will address the audience during the event.

Seeding Pots for the Draw

A total of 36 clubs will be divided into four pots based on UEFA's five-year club coefficients. Last season's winners, Paris Saint-Germain, are automatically in Pot 1. Teams will face two opponents from each pot, avoiding any clashes with clubs from their own country.

  • Pot 1: Paris Saint-Germain (France), Bayern Munich (Germany), Real Madrid (Spain), Liverpool (England), Inter Milan (Italy), Manchester City (England), Arsenal (England), Barcelona (Spain), Atlético Madrid (Spain)
  • Pot 2: Borussia Dortmund (Germany), Roma (Italy), Sporting (Portugal), Aston Villa (England), Porto (Portugal), Manchester United (England), Club Brugge (Belgium), Real Betis (Spain), PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands)
  • Pot 3: Feyenoord (Netherlands), Lille (France), Bodo/Glimt (Norway), Napoli (Italy), RB Leipzig (Germany), Villarreal (Spain), Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine), Galatasaray (Turkey), Fenerbahçe (Turkey)
  • Pot 4: Slavia Prague (Czech Republic), VfB Stuttgart (Germany), LASK (Austria), Como (Italy), Lens (France), Sabah (Azerbaijan), Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia), AEK Athens (Greece), Viking (Norway)

Draw Procedure Explained

Teams from Pot 1 will be drawn against two clubs from each other pot, playing one match at home and one away. The same process repeats for the remaining pots. Clubs from the same nation cannot face each other during this phase, so a team like Real Madrid won’t meet Real Betis yet.

Each club can face no more than two teams from their own association. A fresh UEFA rule bans the same fixture with the same home team from occurring three seasons in a row. For example, if Arsenal and Inter Milan meet, the venue must change if they've faced off in the previous two seasons with the same host.
