Chelsea's Transfer Dilemma: Neto, Mudryk, and Leao

Chelsea’s attacking puzzle is shifting again, and some big names are suddenly in play.

Neto’s future on a knife edge

Pedro Neto’s situation at Stamford Bridge is no longer straightforward. The winger, once seen as a long-term piece of Chelsea’s rebuild, now sits in a grey area: not officially for sale, but very much available at the right price.

football.london understands Al-Hilal are among the clubs circling, joined by several Premier League sides who are tracking the Portugal international. Chelsea are aware of the growing interest, but, crucially, no formal bids have landed on the table yet.

The club are not actively touting Neto around. They are, however, ready to talk if someone is prepared to test their resolve. That will not be cheap. Chelsea are understood to value the 24-year-old at close to £100m, a figure that underlines both their negotiating stance and the inflated state of the current market. Any move would be a statement – from the buyer as much as the seller.

Mudryk loan race heats up

On the other flank, Chelsea are handling Mykhailo Mudryk very differently.

Coventry City are pushing hard to take the winger on loan, with Teamtalk reporting that Frank Lampard’s side have emerged as “serious contenders” for his signature. The plan is clear: Chelsea want Mudryk to play, regularly and under pressure, after he was cleared to feature this season.

A Premier League loan is believed to be Chelsea’s preferred route, which immediately strengthens Coventry’s hand in the race. The club see top-flight minutes as the best way to accelerate his development rather than cashing in or cutting ties.

Crucially, this is not being framed as the end of Mudryk at Stamford Bridge. The report claims Chelsea still see a future for him in blue, even as they look for a temporary home where he can finally string together a full, meaningful campaign.

Leao opportunity lands at Chelsea’s door

While Chelsea weigh up outgoings, an intriguing potential incoming has appeared.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that representatives of Rafael Leao have contacted Chelsea over a possible move from AC Milan. The approach did not stop there: the player’s camp is said to have spoken to other clubs, including Roma, during the summer window.

The price being floated is striking. An offer of around £34m could reportedly be enough to secure the 27-year-old forward, who has been with Milan since his switch from Lille in 2019 and is a full Portugal international. For a player of his pedigree and profile, that fee would raise eyebrows across Europe.

Whether Chelsea turn that opportunity into a concrete bid will depend on how the rest of their attacking jigsaw falls into place.

Scott interest tied to Enzo’s future

Midfield, too, is braced for movement – but only if one key domino falls.

Bournemouth’s Alex Scott remains firmly on Chelsea’s radar, yet any serious push for the 20-year-old hinges on what happens with Enzo Fernandez before deadline day. Chelsea have already tested the waters at the very top of the market, handing Manchester City what amounted to an ultimatum: if City wanted Fernandez, they could have him for £120m, but only if they moved by last Friday.

No official offer arrived. City’s interest, though, has not disappeared.

Chelsea, for their part, have already seen a £64m bid for Scott rejected by Bournemouth last month, with sources at the south-coast club insisting the midfielder is not for sale this summer. That stance leaves Chelsea in a holding pattern, waiting to see whether City come back for Fernandez and whether Bournemouth’s resistance can be broken.

Neto priced high, Mudryk potentially on the move, Leao’s camp knocking, Scott blocked unless Enzo goes – Chelsea’s window is balanced on a series of big calls. How many of them they make in the final days could define the shape of their squad for years, not just months.
