Cody Gakpo Wants Out of Liverpool for Tottenham Move
Cody Gakpo has informed Liverpool he wants out – and his preferred destination is clear. He wants to be part of Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham Hotspur shake-up.
The Dutch forward’s camp has already thrashed out personal terms in principle with Spurs and has now gone a step further, speaking directly with Liverpool’s hierarchy to spell out his stance. Gakpo has told the club he no longer sees his long-term future at Anfield and wants the chance to restart his Premier League story in north London.

At 27, Gakpo knows exactly where he stands in the Liverpool pecking order. On the left, Rio Ngumoha has jumped ahead of him. Through the middle, Alexander Isak is leading the line, with Hugo Ekitike still to return to full fitness and add yet more competition.
The message is obvious: minutes will be hard to come by. That reality has pushed Gakpo towards the exit and towards a new challenge where he believes he can be central, not peripheral.

De Zerbi has wasted no time making his case. Sources indicate the Tottenham head coach has told Gakpo’s camp exactly how central he would be to his attacking blueprint in north London, outlining a role that has left the winger hugely impressed.
Gakpo is convinced by what he has heard. The chance to play a major role in De Zerbi’s project, rather than fight for scraps on Merseyside, is a key part of the appeal.
Spurs, for their part, are not looking at him in isolation. They remain interested in Manchester City’s Savinho and believe they can bring in both forwards as they reshape their attack.
One major selling point is Gakpo’s flexibility. Tottenham view him as someone who can operate off the left and through the middle, giving De Zerbi another high-level option across the front line.
