Costantino Favasuli Joins Napoli on Loan
Costantino Favasuli landed in Rome on Monday morning with a clear destination: Napoli.
The 22-year-old Italian full-back arrived at Villa Stuart to undergo medical tests ahead of a move from Serie B side Catanzaro, edging him closer to becoming the latest addition to the Partenopei’s back line.
Loan now, obligation later
Napoli have set up an initial one-season loan, agreeing to pay €1m for the deal. The move comes with an obligation to buy set at around €6m, underlining how strongly the club rates the defender rather than treating this as a simple audition.
Favasuli’s rise has been rapid. Last season with Catanzaro, he played a key role in their push to the Serie B Play-off final, scoring two goals and supplying seven assists in 36 appearances. Those numbers stand out for a full-back and caught the attention of top-flight scouts months ago.
Versatile and highly rated
Although regarded as one of the most promising young left-backs in Italy, Favasuli spent most of last season operating on the opposite flank. Comfortable on the right, capable on the left, he offers tactical flexibility that will appeal to any coach looking to shuffle systems mid-game.
His performances did not go unnoticed at national level either. In June, caretaker coach Silvio Baldini handed him his senior Italy debut, and Favasuli featured in both friendlies against Greece and Luxembourg. For a player coming straight out of Serie B, that was a clear endorsement.
Outside Villa Stuart, a small group of Napoli supporters greeted him on arrival, a sign that word of his potential has already travelled south. If the medical goes to plan and the paperwork follows, Napoli will be betting €7m on the idea that this is not just another prospect, but a full-back ready to grow into a long-term pillar of their defence.
