Curtis Jones Leaves Liverpool for Inter Milan: A Dream Fulfilled

Curtis Jones has drawn a line under 16 years at Liverpool, sealing a move to Inter Milan and bringing an emotional close to a journey that began as a boyhood dream and ended as a grown man walking out the door with a young family.

The 25-year-old midfielder leaves Anfield in a deal worth around £30m, departing the club he joined as a youngster in the academy and for whom he went on to make more than 200 senior appearances. Across those games he scored 22 goals and collected six major honours, including two Premier League titles – a haul many lifelong professionals never touch.

“I came here as a kid…”

Jones chose his own words to frame the goodbye. On social media, he laid out the scale of the chapter he is closing.

“After 16 years, it's time to say goodbye,” he wrote. “I came here as a kid with a dream of playing for Liverpool, and I've been lucky enough to actually live that dream.”

He stressed how deeply the club is woven into his life, not just his career.

“This club is all I've ever known. I came here as a kid and I'm leaving as a man with a family of my own, which probably puts into perspective just how much of my life I've spent here.

“So much has happened during my time here, both on and off the pitch. I've made my debut, won trophies, made memories I'll never forget, and I've become a dad.”

That last point clearly hit home for him.

“Having my daughter while I've been here makes it even more special because Liverpool isn't just part of my story anymore, it's part of my family's story too.”

A nod to the people behind the badge

Jones used the message to look beyond the spotlight. He thanked academy staff, coaches, team-mates and the many people at Anfield who rarely see their names in headlines but shape careers every day.

“To all the lads I've shared a dressing room with over the years, thank you. I've played with some unbelievable players and made friendships I know I'll have for life,” he said.

Then came the part that will matter most to those on the Kop.

“Thank you to the fans that stuck by me and always supported me. I will always be one of you.”

A new chapter in Milan

Now his future lies in Serie A with Inter Milan, a fresh test after a lifetime in red.

“Now it's time for a new challenge and a new chapter for me and my family, and I'm excited for what's ahead,” he wrote, making it clear that this is not a reluctant exit but a deliberate step into something different.

Yet he left no doubt about what Liverpool means to him.

“But Liverpool will always be a massive part of me. I came here as a kid with a dream and I'm leaving having lived it.

“So genuinely, to everyone who has played any part in my 16 years here, thank you. I'll never forget it.

“YNWA.”

From academy hopeful to title winner, from local kid to Inter Milan signing, Jones walks away having lived the dream he once only whispered to himself. Now he has to build a new one in Italy.
