Deniz Undav Sets Ultimatum for VfB Stuttgart

Deniz Undav has set the clock ticking in Stuttgart.

The VfB striker, fresh from a breakout season and now a full German international, wants his future sorted before he boards the plane to the United States with the national team. According to Bild, Undav has given the club an ultimatum: clarity by Tuesday, June 2 – or contract talks are parked.

No grey area. No slow-burn negotiations. Decision now, or everything waits until after the World Cup.

Ultimatum before America

Undav will travel with Germany to America in two weeks as preparations ramp up for the World Cup. He wants a clear head for that. If Stuttgart have not met his expectations by the time he flies, the forward is ready to shut down discussions, at least temporarily, so he can focus entirely on the tournament.

The pressure is not subtle. Stuttgart know the stakes. Lose momentum in these talks, and they risk a key attacking figure stepping onto the biggest stage with his club future unresolved.

Stuttgart’s offer on the table

The Swabians are working to keep him. Bild reports that VfB plan to submit a new offer before the weekend. The current proposal already represents a major jump: an annual salary in the region of €5.5 million to €6 million, up from his present wage of around €4.5 million.

On top of that, Stuttgart are prepared to pay a signing-on fee of €3 million just for his signature on an extension.

For most players, that would be a clear statement of faith. For Undav, it is not quite enough yet.

A test of ambition

This is no simple haggling over numbers. Undav’s stance also tests how far Stuttgart are willing to stretch to keep the core of a team that has punched above its weight. The club want to reward him. He wants to feel treated like the star he has become.

The deadline he has set sharpens the picture. Either Stuttgart find a way to bridge the remaining gap in the coming days, or they accept that negotiations will pause while their striker chases glory with Germany.

For now, the ball sits firmly in VfB’s half.
