Eli Junior Kroupi Shortlisted for Men’s Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s rise has been paused, not stopped.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men’s Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, recognition of a breakout season that turned a debutant into one of the Premier League’s most dangerous teenagers.

At 20, Kroupi is one of only three Premier League players on the 10-man list, joining Manchester City’s Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa’s Johan Manzambi in a group that showcases the next wave of elite talent.

He earned his place the hard way. Since making his Bournemouth debut in August 2025, Kroupi racked up 35 appearances across all competitions last season and struck 13 goals, a return that quickly made him central to Bournemouth’s attacking plans.

The numbers told the story even more starkly. By the end of the 2025-26 campaign, he had scored more goals than any other teenager in their debut Premier League season, a landmark that pushed him out of the “promising prospect” bracket and into something far more serious.

Then came the setback.

A foot injury in pre-season, followed by surgery, has kept him out of all action so far this term. Bournemouth have had to start the new campaign without their young spearhead, and the award nominee has been confined to the treatment room rather than the penalty area.

The timeline is at least clear. Kroupi is expected to return to the pitch in October or November, just as the season begins to harden and the schedule tightens. His comeback could arrive around the same time his name is read out on one of football’s grandest stages.

The Men’s Young Talent of the Year prize will be among the honours handed out at the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October – a night built for stars already shining, and those about to explode.
