Eli Junior Kroupi Shortlisted for Men's Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s rise has paused on the pitch, but not in the spotlight.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men's Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, recognition of a breakout Premier League campaign that ended with him standing alone among teenagers.

The 20-year-old is one of three Premier League names in a 10-player list, joined by Manchester City's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa's Johan Manzambi. It is elite company, and a sharp reminder of how quickly Kroupi has forced his way into the conversation.

He only made his Bournemouth debut in August 2025. From there, he barely stopped. Last season he played 35 times in all competitions and scored 13 goals, a return that turned heads well beyond the south coast.

The numbers carried real weight. By the end of the 2025-26 campaign, Kroupi had scored more goals than any other teenager in their debut Premier League season. In a league flooded with young talent, he finished at the top of that particular pile.

Right now, though, he is watching rather than playing. A foot injury in pre-season forced him into surgery and has delayed the next chapter of his story. Bournemouth expect him back in October or November, a timeline that would see his return arrive just as the nights draw in and the season hardens.

The award he is chasing will be handed out at the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October.

By then, the question will hang over him and Bournemouth alike: can the league’s most prolific debut-season teenager pick up exactly where he left off, with the eyes of Europe suddenly trained in his direction?
