Federico Dimarco Returns to Training with Inter Ahead of Champions League Clash

Federico Dimarco stepped back onto the training pitch with Inter this morning, but not quite at full strength.

On the eve of a heavyweight Champions League opener away to Real Madrid, the Italy international worked with the rest of the squad while sporting a heavy bandage on his right knee, protecting the mild sprain he picked up against Napoli at the weekend.

Dimarco had been forced off during Inter’s 3-2 win on Saturday, a worrying sight given his importance down the left flank. Today brought a partial sigh of relief: he is back in the group, moving, passing, involved. Yet the strapped knee is a clear reminder that he is not completely out of danger.

Inter are due to fly to Spain this afternoon ahead of their 2026-27 Champions League debut at the Bernabéu. Whether Dimarco will be on that plane as an active option or simply as part of the travelling party is still unclear.

Coach Cristian Chivu is expected to clarify the situation later today in Madrid, when he faces the media and delivers the latest on his defender’s condition and chances of featuring against Real.

For now, Inter have their man back on the grass — but with a question mark wrapped tightly around his right knee.
