Ferran Torres Nears PSG Move as Barcelona Clears Path
Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain now feels less like a rumour and more like a countdown. Barcelona’s latest move has pushed the deal to the brink of completion.
An initial agreement between the clubs is already in place for the Spain international. What followed was a frantic few hours: calls flying back and forth, offers tweaked, clauses argued over, the kind of fine-print battle that so often drags transfers to a halt. This time, it cleared the path. The two sides reached an understanding that effectively seals Torres’ move to the French champions.
The clearest sign came from the training ground.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona allowed Torres to skip training again on Thursday morning, his second consecutive absence with permission from the club. He had been due back under Hansi Flick’s orders on Wednesday. Instead, at 26, he is using those hours to finalise his switch to PSG, backed by a board that is negotiating directly with the Parisian side at the same time.
While Torres steps away, life at Barça carries on, and the contrast is stark.
Pau Cubarsi, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal all reported for duty at the start of Wednesday’s session, folding straight into Flick’s plans. Pedri Gonzalez stayed inside, working in the gym and avoiding the training pitch as he continues his own physical programme.
On the fringes, a different kind of tension lingers. Marc Casado, Hector Fort, Jofre Torrents, Toni Fernandez and Gerard Martin remain training apart from the main group, all of them stuck in limbo as they wait for clarity on their futures. For them, it is a complicated, uneasy standstill: close enough to the first team to see it, still not sure if they will be part of it.
Flick still leans on several players from the reserves. Goalkeeper Aron Yaakobishvili is one of them, though he is also nearing a move to Almeria. Alongside him are centre-back Alvaro Cortes, right-back Xavi Espart, left-back Jordi Pesquer, midfielders Ibrahima Toncara, Aurin Gorin and Brian Farinas, plus striker Hamza Abdelkarim. They train, they wait, they hope this pre-season window opens a door.
For Torres, that door is already wide open and leads to Paris. The only question now is when the move will be announced, and how Barcelona choose to reshape their attack once he walks through it.
