Flavio Cobolli Shares Insights from Training Session with Jannik Sinner Ahead of His Comeback
Jannik Sinner is gearing up for a comeback that tennis fans have been eagerly waiting for. Reports confirm he will make his return at the China Open in Beijing next week, where he holds the title as defending champion. The Italian star has been sidelined by a knee injury since his victory over Alexander Zverev in the 2026 Wimbledon final.
Despite his time away, Sinner still leads the ATP rankings. However, his hold on the top spot faces pressure from Zverev, who recently won the US Open and trails by less than 2,000 points. Zverev could potentially overtake Sinner before the season concludes if results favor him.
Training With Flavio Cobolli in Monte Carlo
Sinner has been preparing for his return in Monte Carlo, where he trained alongside fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli, runner-up at Roland Garros this year, is currently in London representing Team Europe at the Laver Cup.
Before his Laver Cup matches, Cobolli spoke to Super Tennis TV about practicing with Sinner. “We joked around a lot,” said the 24-year-old, who is enjoying the best season of his career so far in 2026. “It was really nice to find him again on the court. Every time I get the chance, I try to make the most out of our practice hours. He’s one of the people who teaches me the most; I’m always eager to train with him.”
Cobolli’s Role at the Laver Cup
This marks Cobolli’s third consecutive appearance at the Laver Cup. He first competed in 2024 when Team Europe stopped Team World from winning their third straight title. Cobolli won’t play on day one, which features a doubles match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jakub Mensik versus Alexander Bublik and Taylor Fritz.
Team Europe is captained by Yannick Noah with Tim Henman as vice-captain. For Team World, Andre Agassi leads as captain and Pat Rafter serves as vice-captain.
