Fridolina Rolfö to Miss Entire 2026/27 Season Due to Pregnancy
Manchester United will be without Fridolina Rolfö for the whole of the 2026/27 campaign after the forward announced she is pregnant.
The Sweden international was a notable absentee from United’s WSL opening-day defeat away to London City Lionesses last Friday. The reason is now clear, with Rolfö having shared the news with her teammates before the club prepared for life without one of their most versatile attacking players.
For head coach Eva Olid, it is a bittersweet twist. United lose a key figure not just for this season but likely into the early stages of 2027/28 as Rolfö takes the time required to return to full fitness after childbirth.
United have been here recently. Last season, winger Celin Bizet Dønnum announced her own pregnancy, playing her final game in October 2025. She has yet to return to first-team action, underlining how long the road back can be at elite level.
Rolfö’s absence strips United of a player capable of operating across the front line and at wing-back, a tactical weapon Olid had been expected to lean on heavily. Now, the manager must rework her plans again, just as a new WSL season begins to take shape.
