Hannah Hampton: Back-to-Back Golden Glove Winner and Historical Milestone
Hannah Hampton has turned a strong season into a slice of history.
The Chelsea and England goalkeeper has secured the Golden Glove once again, finishing the campaign with eight clean sheets and becoming the first goalkeeper to win the award in back-to-back seasons.
One of those shutouts came in the spotlight of Stamford Bridge last weekend, a tense 1-0 win over Manchester United that said plenty about her mentality. Deep into stoppage time, struggling with illness, Hampton took herself off, prioritising her team’s result over any personal milestone. For a moment, there was doubt over whether that decision would cost her the clean sheet on paper. It didn’t. The award has since been confirmed as hers, the shutout officially credited.
That moment summed up her year. Reliable, ruthless, and relentlessly competitive.
Hampton arrived at this league campaign already carrying the aura of a winner. She had just helped England to glory at Women’s Euro 2025 and, in September, she became the inaugural winner of the Women’s Yashin Trophy at the Ballon d’Or – a landmark recognition for a goalkeeper whose reputation has been rising at speed.
Now domestic honours have caught up with the international ones. Last season she shared the Golden Glove with Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce. This time, the prize belongs to her alone.
From European champion to back-to-back Golden Glove winner and the first name on a new global goalkeeping award, Hampton’s trajectory is clear. The question now is how much higher she can push the standard for everyone else.
