Harry Kane did not rant, rage or roll his eyes. He just did what he has built a career on doing: he scored when it mattered.
Two Bundesliga games without a goal had been enough to stir the noise. A 5-1 demolition of Stuttgart without his name on the scoresheet, then a goalless grind against Schalke, and suddenly the word “drought” started to creep into the conversation around Bayern’s No. 9. For most strikers, two quiet afternoons barely register. For Harry Kane, they become a storyline.
Against Elversberg, he tore that storyline up.
Kane’s answer
Bayern laboured. Elversberg, new to the top flight but anything but overawed, refused to fold and even threatened to grab something remarkable from the game when Maurice Krattenmacher bent a superb curler in from the edge of the box. For a few minutes, the record champions looked rattled. A promoted side had just landed a punch.
Then the Ballon d'Or contender stepped in.
Kane peeled into space, took his moment and finished with the kind of cold precision that has become his trademark. One chance, one emphatic strike, and the game swung back Bayern’s way. A 2-1 win secured, three points rescued, and with them a landmark: his 150th goal in 153 competitive matches for the Bavarian giants.

No drama, just goals
Outside, the chatter had been about a “dry spell.” Inside, Kane never blinked. The 33-year-old has long since learned to tune out the commentary around him, and his reaction afterwards was as measured as his finish.
"That's football," he said, shrugging off the fuss over two goalless league outings. Sometimes the goals come in floods, sometimes they make you wait. What mattered to him was simple: “It was nice to score a goal today and contribute to the win. They were three important points. It’s not easy to play here. Elversberg are a good team, so we’re happy about the win."
He quickly shifted the spotlight away from himself and onto the collective. Bayern, he pointed out, finally have a fully fit squad. With games stacking up and the team’s high-intensity style demanding constant running, he stressed the need for depth and rotation. “It doesn’t matter who starts or comes off the bench – everyone needs to be ready to give 110 percent."
For all the talk of a one-man scoring machine, Kane knows Bayern’s season will be shaped by the squad around him as much as by his own numbers.
Teammates and rivals in awe
Inside the Bayern camp, there was no hint of surprise at his response. Aleksandar Pavlovic, who supplied the pass for the winner, sounded almost amused at how familiar the move felt.
"Harry slotted that one in superbly," the midfielder said. "He likes that little move; he does it quite often. He executed it brilliantly, to be fair. I'm happy I was able to play the ball to him and that we can take the three points back home with us."
The respect stretched beyond the Bayern dressing room. On the opposite bench, Elversberg head coach Vincent Wagner could only admire what he had just witnessed. His team had matched the champions for long spells, only to be undone by a striker operating on a different plane.
"He makes it look effortless too – you’d think he does that sort of thing all the time!" Wagner admitted, summing up the sense of inevitability that still clings to Kane in front of goal.
From “drought” talk to a century chase
With one swing of his right boot, the narrative flipped. The supposed mini-crisis is over. The next chapter is about records again.
Kane now sits on 99 Bundesliga goals. One more, and he joins the league’s century club. He has done it at a pace that underlines exactly why Bayern moved for him and why he remains a permanent fixture in the Ballon d'Or discussion.
Friday night brings Union Berlin and another stage, another milestone within reach. A win would do more than just tidy up the table; it would allow Bayern to jump ahead of Augsburg, Borussia Dortmund and Freiburg, and reclaim top spot, at least provisionally.
Kane, back among the goals and hunting history once more, will stand at the centre of it all. The only real question now is not whether he scores again soon, but how quickly he can turn 100 into something far more daunting for the rest of the Bundesliga.
