Hull Join West Ham in Pursuit of Tottenham's Solomon

Tottenham’s summer clear-out is gathering pace, and Manor Solomon is being pushed towards the exit door with purpose.

Hull City have joined West Ham United in the chase for the 27-year-old winger, who Spurs value at around £20m, according to The i Paper. Early offers are expected to land somewhere between £10m and £20m, but the message from north London is clear: Solomon is available, and Tottenham want a deal done quickly.

A free transfer that never really started

Solomon arrived at Spurs from Fulham on a free in 2023, a low-risk move that never came close to paying off. Across his time on the books, he has managed just five senior appearances, his Spurs career largely lived at arm’s length via loan spells at Leeds United, Villarreal, and Fiorentina.

There were flickers of opportunity. A year ago, Thomas Frank briefly offered him a route back into contention while Spurs scoured the market for wide options. That window closed almost as quickly as it opened.

This summer, Roberto De Zerbi gave Solomon minutes in pre-season, but the reality has been brutally underlined: he sits well outside the Italian’s plans for the 2026-27 campaign.

De Zerbi wants a ‘bomba’ – and space must be made

During Tottenham’s tour of New Zealand, De Zerbi teased another “bomba” signing to crown what the club see as a transformative window. That marquee wide forward is unlikely to be Solomon; it is the player who will replace him.

Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo is high on the list, though any move depends on Andoni Iraola finding a replacement at Anfield. Manchester City’s Savinho is another primary target, as Spurs hunt a dynamic wide threat to reshape their attack.

To make that happen, the squad is being stripped back. Solomon is part of that collateral.

From near-relegation to ruthless reset

Tottenham’s stance is shaped by the trauma of last season. A 17th-place finish and a brush with relegation have forced a hard reset at every level of the squad.

The wage structure has been reworked to accommodate headline arrivals such as Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke. Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, and Martin Dubravka have come in on free transfers, smart deals that still carry top-flight experience and presence.

Behind that recruitment drive sits a parallel purge. Solomon’s departure is one of several being lined up as Spurs try to turn a bloated, underperforming group into something leaner, hungrier, and more expensive at the top end.

Big names could follow Solomon out

The exits may not stop with fringe players. The i Paper reports that the ongoing clear-out could yet open the door for captain Cristian Romero to complete a move to Inter Milan or Atletico Madrid before the season kicks off.

There is uncertainty in goal as well. Guglielmo Vicario is weighing a return to Italy, a switch that would hand Antonin Kinsky the chance to step up as No. 1. For a club that flirted with disaster last year, these are bold, high-risk adjustments.

Solomon, though, is the immediate piece on the move. Negotiations over his sale are expected to accelerate and could be wrapped up in the coming days, with the Premier League season starting on August 21. Hull and West Ham now face a straight test of ambition and spending power as they prepare their opening bids.

Hull, West Ham and a winger in limbo

For West Ham, Solomon represents a relatively affordable wide option with European experience, a squad player who might yet be unlocked in a different system. For Hull, he would be a statement signing, the kind of move that signals intent and drags attention towards the MKM Stadium.

Tottenham, for their part, want clarity. The sooner Solomon’s future is resolved, the sooner De Zerbi can push for that final “bomba” and lock in his attacking options.

Amid all this, the club’s next generation is also being shuffled. Teenage prospect Mikey Moore, fresh from impressing on loan at Rangers, is ready for another temporary move. FC Koln and a cluster of Championship clubs are circling, sensing an opportunity to borrow one of Spurs’ brightest young forwards.

Tottenham have chosen their direction. The question now is whether Hull or West Ham are willing to pay the price to take Solomon with them.
