Inter Milan Near £30m Deal for Curtis Jones

Inter Milan are edging towards a deal for Curtis Jones, with the Italian champions expected to pay around 35m euros (£30m) to prise the midfielder away from Liverpool.

Liverpool knocked back a verbal offer of 25m euros (£21.7m) in June, holding firm to a valuation closer to £35m for the 25-year-old, who is entering the final year of his contract. That stance has dragged Inter higher, and the emerging consensus is that a package at the £30m mark will finally unlock an agreement.

Sources in Italy believe a verbal understanding is already in place. Both clubs, though, insist there is still work to do on the finer points of the transfer before anything is signed.

Liverpool are prepared to sell. They want a fee that mirrors the £30m deal Inter struck with Tottenham for Djed Spence, using that move as a benchmark for Jones’ price. Inter’s interest is not new: they tried to bring him in back in January on an initial loan with an option to buy, only to see that proposal rejected.

Jones, a product of Liverpool’s academy and once seen as a long-term pillar of the club’s midfield, has racked up 228 appearances since his debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019. Last season he featured 49 times across all competitions, but only started 18 Premier League matches and never fully nailed down a regular role in Arne Slot’s midfield.

Now, with a year left on his deal and Inter pushing hard, Liverpool face a clear decision: cash in on a homegrown talent or risk losing him for far less down the line.
