Inter Milan Closing In on Curtis Jones Transfer from Liverpool

Inter Milan are closing in on Curtis Jones in a deal that would see Liverpool bank around 35m euros (£30m) and end the midfielder’s long Anfield stay.

The Italian champions saw a 25m-euro (£21.7m) verbal offer rebuffed in June, with Liverpool holding firm to a valuation closer to £35m for the 25-year-old, who has just one year left on his contract. That stance has dragged Inter back to the table – and closer to Liverpool’s number.

Now, the expectation is that a package worth about £30m will be enough to unlock an agreement. Sources in Italy believe a verbal understanding is already in place, though both clubs insist key details still need ironing out before anything is signed off.

Liverpool's Position

What is clear is Liverpool’s position. They are prepared to sell Jones and want a deal that mirrors the £30m Inter paid Tottenham for Djed Spence, using that move as a benchmark for the structure and size of the package.

Inter's Pursuit

Inter’s pursuit of Jones is not new. They tried to tempt Liverpool in January with a loan that included an option to buy, only to be knocked back. This time, they have returned with money on the table rather than a stop-gap solution.

Jones has been part of the Liverpool first team since his debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019 and has racked up 228 appearances in all competitions. Last season he featured 49 times, but only 18 of those were Premier League starts as he struggled to nail down a permanent place in Arne Slot’s midfield.

A move to San Siro would offer Jones a fresh stage. For Liverpool, it would mark the end of a long-running academy story and the start of another significant midfield reshuffle.
