Inter Milan Signs Curtis Jones from Liverpool for £30m
Inter Milan have completed the signing of Curtis Jones from Liverpool in a deal that could rise to £30m, drawing a firm line under one of Anfield’s longest-running academy stories.
The Serie A champions will pay an initial £25.7m for the 25-year-old, with a further £4.3m tied to achievable add-ons. Liverpool have also secured a 10% sell-on clause, while Jones has committed to a long-term contract at San Siro running until 2031.
It ends a 16-year spell on Merseyside. Jones joined Liverpool’s academy at the age of nine and climbed through the age groups before making his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019. From promising youngster to established squad member, he grew up in the glare of Anfield’s expectations.
Across his time with the Reds, he made 228 appearances in all competitions. Last season he featured 49 times, but only 18 of those came as Premier League starts, a clear sign of the battle he faced to nail down a guaranteed place.
That struggle intensified under new head coach Arne Slot. With Jones entering the final year of his contract and Liverpool reshaping their midfield options, the club chose to cash in rather than risk losing him for nothing.
Inter, meanwhile, continue to tap into the English market. Jones becomes the latest English player to head for Milan this summer, swapping the Kop for the Curva Nord as he begins a new chapter in Serie A.
