Ivan Toney Charged with Assault After Nightclub Incident

England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm following an incident at a London nightclub in Soho.

The charge, confirmed on July 31, relates to an alleged incident on December 6, 2025. Toney is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on September 24.

A spokesperson for the forward said in a statement that Toney “acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court.”

The case arrives at a pivotal moment in the 28-year-old’s career. Now with Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League, Toney has only just come off the back of the biggest international tournament of his life.

Called into England’s World Cup squad earlier this summer, he featured as a late substitute in the 2-1 semifinal defeat to Argentina, sent on as Gareth Southgate’s side chased a dramatic equaliser that never came. His only start of the tournament followed in the third-place playoff against France, a wild 6-4 win that offered some measure of consolation after another near-miss on the biggest stage.

Toney has 10 caps for his country and one international goal, a record that hinted at a growing role for him in England’s attacking plans.

That trajectory now pauses while the legal process unfolds, with the striker preparing for a very different kind of scrutiny in a Westminster courtroom next month.
