Jérémy Doku Signs New Five-Year Contract with Manchester City

Jérémy Doku has nailed his colours to the Manchester City mast, signing a new five-year contract that could keep him at the Etihad until 2032.

City confirmed the winger has agreed fresh terms through 2031, with an option for an extra year, extending a deal that already ran long but underlining his status in the club’s next cycle. Doku becomes the latest pillar to be locked in this summer, following Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol and Abdukodir Khusanov in committing to long-term extensions.

At 24, Doku is being treated as part of City’s core, not a supporting act. He featured 47 times in all competitions last season and chipped in with eight goals, his direct running and one‑v‑one threat offering Pep Guardiola a different attacking gear on the flanks.

While one key piece stays, another part of City’s midfield puzzle could soon move.

Sources have told ESPN that City are in talks with Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah over a deal for Tijjani Reijnders. Discussions are ongoing over a package worth more than £50 million, with no agreement yet in place but negotiations described as active.

Reijnders only arrived at the Etihad from Milan last summer for £46.5m and, like Doku, made 47 appearances in all competitions during his debut campaign. His potential departure would not be taken lightly, but City are already planning their response.

According to sources, the club intend to replace any midfielder who leaves before the transfer deadline. That stance is shaped by a bigger looming issue at the heart of Guardiola’s team: Rodri.

Inside the club, there is a growing acceptance that the Spain international will move to Barcelona. The Catalan side have already seen a second bid of £55m rejected, with City valuing the midfielder — who has just one year left on his contract — at more than £60m.

Barcelona know the price. City know his importance. Somewhere between those two realities lies one of the defining decisions of this window for the Premier League champions.
