Jon Jones Shares His Take on Ciryl Gane vs. Josh Hokit at UFC 334

Jon Jones, the UFC legend, has given his thoughts on the heavyweight clash coming up at UFC 334, featuring champion Ciryl Gane and challenger Josh Hokit. The event is set for November 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Gane recently became the undisputed UFC heavyweight champ after Tom Aspinall stepped down from the title due to an eye injury. He will now defend the belt against Hokit, who remains undefeated and used to play in the NFL. Notably, Hokit trains alongside Jones at the Jackson Wink MMA Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Jones Weighs In On Gane vs. Hokit

In an interview with The Schmo, Jones opened up about the upcoming fight. He praised Hokit’s current form and coaching, saying:

"Josh looks great right now. He's doing a great job, obviously coached by some of the best in the world. I've always supported wrestlers and backed wrestlers. It's interesting because I have Gable (Steveson), and there are words being spoken back-and-forth. It’s awkward, but deep down, behind Gable, I'm supporting all the guys."

Jones also expressed goodwill towards all fighters involved, adding:

"I want to see everyone live healthy lifestyles and do great things in business and family, so I’m really rooting for everybody. I’d be lying if I didn’t say the more people Ciryl Gane beats, it really shows the specialness of our family and team. My prediction? I believe Hokit very well could win, but it also makes our brand look great when Ciryl Gane wins. May the best man win."

Jones Comments on UFC 335 Heavyweight Bout

Besides UFC 334, Jones also shared his thoughts on the heavyweight bout at UFC 335, scheduled for December 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This fight features former two-division UFC champ Alex Pereira facing knockout artist Sergei Pavlovich.

Jones admitted uncertainty over the outcome, noting:

"The Alex that showed up last fight was hesitant, maybe second guessing himself, so I don’t really know. I thought Pereira would challenge Ciryl Gane more, so it’s hard to say how Sergei and Alex will shake out. But I’ll be watching, and again, may the best man win."

The main event at UFC 335 is a five-round BMF title fight between champion Charles Oliveira and fan favorite Diego Lopes.

Looking Ahead in the Heavyweight Division

The winner between Pereira and Pavlovich might face the victor of Gane vs. Hokit in 2027, as the heavyweight division regains momentum following Aspinall's injury that paused title defenses for about a year. Aspinall could get an immediate shot at the belt once he is cleared to return.
