Juventus Pursue Zirkzee as Kolo Muani Deal Intensifies
Joshua Zirkzee has given the green light. Now it is up to Juventus to turn a nod of approval into a deal that reshapes their attack.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Manchester United forward has signalled his willingness to join the Bianconeri on loan this summer, with the club locked in intense negotiations with his agent, Kia Joorabchian. Talks are described as advanced, the tone serious rather than speculative. Juventus want him, and they want him quickly.
At the same time, the club are driving hard for Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani in what amounts to a full-scale overhaul of their frontline. The plan is clear: two different profiles, one rebuilt attack.
Massara’s Long Chase
Zirkzee is not a new idea in Turin. New football director Ricky Massara has admired the Dutchman for some time, having already tried to bring him to Roma in the winter window. That move never materialised. The interest never cooled.
Now, with Juventus searching for a modern, technically sharp focal point, Massara has gone back to a familiar name. Zirkzee’s 2023-24 season with Bologna still carries weight in Italy: 12 goals and seven assists in Serie A, numbers that underlined his ability to drop deep, link play and still arrive in the box with purpose.
His Premier League chapter has been far less convincing. Since moving to England, he has struggled to secure a regular starting role, managing just 19 starts in 68 league appearances across the last two seasons. The talent is not in doubt; the fit has been. Juventus believe they can offer the right context.
Crucially, his style is seen as a natural match for Luciano Spalletti’s tactical demands. A forward who can combine, press, and operate between the lines suits the coach’s preference for fluid, possession-heavy football. Zirkzee ticks those boxes.
Injury Pressure and Market Urgency
This is not just opportunism from Juventus. It is necessity.
An injury to promising Italian striker Jeff Ekhator has sharpened the club’s sense of urgency. The squad suddenly looks light in attack, and with the season’s start looming, the margin for delay is shrinking.
The response from the hierarchy has been aggressive. While talks continue with Manchester United over a loan for Zirkzee, CEO Giovanni Carnevali is, according to Gazzetta, pushing to finalise a €40 million agreement with PSG for Kolo Muani. Two deals, two different negotiations, one tight calendar.
The idea is to blend Zirkzee’s technical polish with Kolo Muani’s speed and direct running. On paper, it offers Spalletti an attack that can both construct and destroy: one forward to knit moves together, another to stretch defences and attack space. Juventus management are convinced that combination can restore a cutting edge that has dulled in recent seasons.
Spalletti Waits on the Green Light
For now, Spalletti can only wait.
The coach is pressing for clarity on timing from the board, aware that any major attacking reshuffle needs pre-season minutes, not just deadline-day headlines. The earlier Zirkzee and Kolo Muani walk through the door, the sooner he can start building partnerships and patterns.
There is no gentle easing into the campaign, either. Juventus open their Serie A season away to newly promoted Frosinone on August 23, a fixture that looks straightforward on paper but offers no guarantees for a side still finding its rhythm.
By then, the picture up front must be clearer. Will Zirkzee be wearing black and white? Will Kolo Muani be alongside him?
Juventus have made their move. Now the clock, and the market, will decide how bold this new attack really looks when the season kicks off.
