Kalvin Phillips Set for Sheffield United Loan; PSG Close to Signing Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche
Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is reportedly close to securing a second loan spell at Sheffield United, who compete in the Championship. Since his move from Leeds United in the summer of 2022, Phillips, now 30, has struggled to make an impact at City, featuring just 32 times.
His appearances have dwindled since the end of the 2023-24 season, with loan stints at West Ham United, Ipswich Town, and Sheffield United. A knee injury limited him to only three games for Sheffield United last season, but it appears he will return to the club soon. The Manchester Evening News suggests an announcement could come within days.
Phillips still has two years remaining on his contract with Manchester City but was excluded from City's pre-season tour squad, hinting at his imminent departure from the Etihad Stadium once again.
PSG Closing in on Monaco's Versatile Attacker Maghnes Akliouche
Paris Saint-Germain is on the verge of signing Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The 24-year-old forward had attracted interest from clubs including Liverpool, but PSG have made significant progress in negotiations.
Akliouche has featured 139 times for Monaco, scoring 23 goals and assisting 28 across all competitions. Last season, he contributed seven goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances. He also brings experience at the highest level, netting three goals and providing five assists in 20 Champions League matches. Akliouche usually operates down the right flank but is versatile across the attacking third.
Middlesbrough in Talks to Re-sign Everton Goalkeeper Mark Travers
Middlesbrough are reportedly in discussions with Everton to bring goalkeeper Mark Travers back to the club on loan for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Travers, an Irish international, spent time on loan at Boro during the 2024-25 campaign, making 17 appearances.
Since joining Everton from Bournemouth last summer, Travers has been mostly behind Jordan Pickford, playing just twice last season. Reports from Football Insider indicate Travers is eager to leave Everton to find regular playing time. Wrexham has also shown interest in the goalkeeper, who previously made 82 appearances for Bournemouth before moving to Everton.
