Kompany Dismisses Transfer Bust-Up Claims with Bayern Munich
Vincent Kompany has slapped down claims of a bust-up with Bayern Munich’s hierarchy over summer transfers, dismissing the story as little more than fiction.
The Bayern coach, preparing for his side’s Bundesliga meeting with Schalke, was in no mood to entertain reports that he had clashed with the board after the club failed to land a third major signing.

Bayern’s window delivered Morocco international Ismael Saibari and left-back Nathaniel Brown, but speculation swirled that Kompany wanted one more marquee arrival and made his frustrations clear behind closed doors.
The story, originating from SportBild, painted a picture of a "long conversation" in which the 40-year-old was supposedly talked down from his demands. Kompany rejected that version outright.
"Well, you pulled that information out of the AI cloud," he snapped when asked about the report. He stressed that he usually refuses to comment on internal matters, underlining: "What we discuss internally is ultimately an internal matter."
Being confronted with what he sees as a completely invented narrative, he admitted, was "a bit mad".
Bayern hierarchy closes ranks
Kompany’s stance was echoed immediately by Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund, who moved to underline the unity between the dugout and the club’s recruitment department.
Freund insisted there has been no tension and no secret push for extra signings, explaining that the club consciously chose a different route for the final places in the squad. Bayern, he said, decided to lean into youth development, promoting emerging talent instead of forcing through another big-money deal — and that plan, he maintained, had been agreed with Kompany during their pre-season discussions.
"We were in daily contact with Vincent. But we never spoke about anything like that," Freund told reporters, cutting down the suggestion of a behind-the-scenes power struggle.
The message from both men was clear: no split, no stand-off, no hidden agenda.
Musiala health update offers reassurance
Away from the noise around transfers, Kompany turned to an issue that genuinely does concern Bayern: Jamal Musiala’s fitness.
The gifted playmaker has been under close observation after collapsing on the pitch, a scare that briefly overshadowed everything else around the club. Kompany, though, struck a more reassuring tone as he outlined the current situation before the Schalke trip.
He stressed that Musiala is receiving the best possible medical support and has responded well in recent sessions. "For him, things are looking up again. We have been dealing with this for a long time," Kompany said, hinting at a carefully managed, ongoing process rather than a sudden crisis.
The coach added that if such an incident were to occur only once in "40, 50, or 60 games," it would no longer be considered a major cause for alarm within the club.
With the transfer window closed and the rumour mill spinning in the background, Kompany now has a different task: to turn a unified front off the pitch into a ruthless, coherent Bayern on it.
