Ligue 1 Predictions Duel: Luke vs Bastien for 2026/27
The Ligue 1 season is only just finding its rhythm, but the prediction battle at GFFN is already tilting one way. Editor-in-chief Luke Entwistle has sprinted out of the blocks and holds a 15–8 lead over sub-editor Bastien Cheval as their 2026/27 head-to-head returns, this time with guests set to join the fun over the course of the campaign.
The rules are simple, the margins anything but. Three points for a perfect scoreline. Two for getting the goal difference right. One for calling the result. Over nine months, those tiny gains – or slips – add up.
This weekend, all eyes turn to Alsace.
Game of the week: Strasbourg’s fire vs Monaco’s steel
RC Strasbourg Alsace v AS Monaco, Saturday, 16:15 (UK). It looks like a classic clash of styles, but the story runs deeper than that.
Monaco arrive in frightening form. Since Filipe Luís took over, they have rattled off five wins from five, capped by a statement victory at the Parc des Princes against Paris Saint-Germain last week. Les Monégasques boast the best defence in the division, disciplined, compact and ruthless on the break.
Now they walk into the path of the league’s most explosive attack.
Strasbourg are flying. Le Racing smashed six past ESTAC Troyes last weekend and had already shown their teeth with a 2-1 win over RC Lens at the Meinau the week before. That Lens result mattered: it proved they can do more than bully struggling sides; they can hurt the heavyweights too.
Something has to give.
Monaco do take a knock into this one. Mamadou Coulibaly has been ruled out with a quadriceps injury, forcing Filipe Luís to break up a settled side that has barely changed during his perfect start. Strasbourg, by contrast, have stability: no fresh injuries, no returns. The same group that put six past Troyes goes again.
Both Luke and Bastien see a thriller brewing – and neither is brave enough to split them. They’re united on a 2-2 draw at the Meinau, a prediction that nods to Strasbourg’s attacking fury and Monaco’s resilience.
