Liverpool's Bid for Barcola as Salah Successor
Liverpool are preparing to test Paris Saint-Germain’s resolve with an opening offer for Bradley Barcola, with the French winger emerging as the club’s preferred heir to Mohamed Salah.
According to The Athletic, the 23-year-old is not just on Liverpool’s shortlist – he is at the top of it. Internally, Anfield decision-makers view Barcola as the marquee attacking signing of this window, the player to reshape the right side of their front line after Salah’s departure at the end of last season.
Barcola, for his part, is understood to be eager to make the move. The attraction is obvious: a starring role at Anfield, in a league that would showcase his pace and directness on a weekly basis, and the chance to step out from the shadow of PSG’s galaxy of attacking options.
PSG’s stance, though, is already setting up a hard-edged negotiation.
The French champions are said to value Barcola at close to €170m, a figure Liverpool have no intention of entertaining. That number plants the transfer firmly in the bracket of the game’s most expensive deals and signals PSG’s willingness to dig in unless they receive a truly elite fee.
Liverpool, by contrast, are thought to be working to a valuation nearer €120m. That is still a huge outlay, but one they believe reflects both Barcola’s current level and his ceiling, especially with the player reluctant to extend a contract that runs until 2028.
That reluctance is where Liverpool sense opportunity. Barcola’s hesitation to commit long term to PSG hands the Premier League club a sliver of leverage in talks that might otherwise feel one-sided. If a renewal continues to stall, the Paris hierarchy face a familiar dilemma: hold a valuable asset at all costs, or cash in while the market is hot.
On the pitch, Barcola has already shown why Europe’s elite are circling. Across the 2025-26 season he made 49 appearances for Les Rouge et Bleu, scoring 13 goals and supplying seven assists. Those numbers, produced in a squad stacked with attacking talent, hint at a player ready to carry more responsibility.
That is exactly what he now wants. Barcola is keen to “take his career to the next level” and become a leading figure for a major European side, not just another name on a star-studded team sheet.
Liverpool are offering that stage. PSG are demanding a king’s ransom for the privilege.
