Liverpool's Summer Reshuffle: Morrison and Ramsay Head Out on Loan
Liverpool’s summer reshuffle under Andoni Iraola is gathering pace, with two young players heading out on loan as the new head coach trims his squad for the season ahead.
Kieran Morrison, one of the standout performers on Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the USA, has sealed a season-long move to Sheffield Wednesday. The winger will spend the entire 2026-27 campaign at Hillsborough after opting for League One over interest from clubs on the continent.
At 19, Morrison has prioritised regular senior minutes over a more glamorous move abroad, convinced that a full year of first-team football in a demanding, physical division will accelerate his development. Liverpool clearly see a long-term future for him too: earlier in the summer the club tied him down to a new contract running until 2030.
While Morrison tests himself in England’s third tier, another Liverpool defender is heading north of the border. Calvin Ramsay is set to complete a loan switch to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.
The 23-year-old right-back, who is out of contract at Anfield next summer, will look to re-establish momentum in Paisley at a crucial stage of his career.
