At the PSG Campus in Poissy, Luis Enrique cut a clear, uncompromising figure. On the eve of another key outing, the Paris Saint-Germain coach made one thing plain: no player will be rushed back onto the pitch if he is not fully ready — in body or in mind.
The conversation quickly turned to Bradley Barcola, who has been edging his way back into the squad.
“If he’s still unwell, he won’t play tomorrow,” Enrique stated, refusing to leave any room for doubt.
Barcola took part in a partial training session on the previous day and completed a full session this time. The winger is back with the group, feeling his way towards rhythm and sharpness, but the coach insists the final call will not come from the bench.
“He’s coming back. We’re finding the best conditions. He’ll tell us when he’s ready. He’s lacking a little confidence,” Enrique admitted, underlining that the player’s own sense of readiness will decide whether he steps onto the pitch.
That theme of trust and patience carried over when Fabián Ruiz’s situation came up. No drama, no shortcuts — just a process that has to run its course.
“Ruiz? That’s how it is. When a player is injured, we have to wait and see how he feels. There are no problems,” Enrique said.
“We’re working on getting the players back to full fitness. It’s normal to play through pain, but we’re still focused on giving the players the confidence to show their condition.”
Ruiz has yet to rejoin full training. The staff monitor him daily, tracking each small step forward.
“He hasn’t trained yet. He’s progressing. We talk every day. We’re happy. He’s on the right track,” Enrique concluded.
No gambles, no rushed comebacks — only players who step onto the pitch convinced they are ready to carry PSG’s shirt at full tilt.
