Manchester United have drawn a firm line in this summer’s transfer market: Bruno Fernandes is not for sale.

Carrick, confirmed as permanent manager in May after a transformative interim spell, has been clear in both public and private: he wants his leaders kept, not cashed in. Fernandes sits at the top of that list.
