Manchester United Pursue Francisco Conceicao as Juventus Consider Zirkzee Swap
Manchester United have moved to the front of the queue for Francisco Conceicao, with Juventus braced for the possibility of losing the winger just two years after making his stay in Turin permanent.
The Premier League club, reshaped under Michael Carrick, are driving hard to add a dynamic wide attacker to their squad and, according to Sportmediaset, have identified Conceicao as a priority target. Liverpool are keeping tabs on developments, but United are described as the most aggressive suitors at this stage.
From loan gamble to Juventus mainstay
Conceicao arrived at Juventus from Porto on loan in the summer of 2024, a relatively low-risk move that quickly turned into a cornerstone of the club’s rebuild. His impact under Igor Tudor was immediate, his direct running and work-rate making him a key figure. When Luciano Spalletti took over, that status only solidified.
Juventus moved swiftly to redeem his deal for €30 million, convinced they had secured a long-term pillar for their project. Now, barely two seasons on, that investment is being tested by serious Premier League money and a proposal that could reshape their attack.
United’s offer: cash plus Zirkzee
Juventus currently value Conceicao at between €50m and €60m. On a straight cash basis, that would be a major outlay even for United. The proposed solution is a package that blends money and manpower.
Sportmediaset report that United are prepared to put €30m on the table and include Joshua Zirkzee in the deal. The Dutch forward is no longer seen as central to United’s plans and is open to returning to Serie A, where his profile and skill set have already been appreciated.
For Juventus, who are actively searching for a new forward this summer, the structure has obvious appeal. Spalletti likes Zirkzee’s characteristics: a mobile striker comfortable linking play, technically sharp, and already familiar with Italian football. The idea of replacing one starter with another while banking a cash injection fits neatly with the club’s current market strategy.
Mendes in the middle
As often in deals of this scale, the presence of Jorge Mendes looms large. The super-agent is heavily involved in mediating between the two clubs, working to shape an agreement that satisfies both the financial and tactical demands on either side.
Mendes is expected to present a formal offer at Continassa in the coming days, a step that would move the negotiations from concept to concrete. Inside Juventus, the proposed swap is being viewed as close to an ideal compromise: Carrick would get the explosive winger he craves, Juventus would secure a proven Serie A striker and extra funds to reinvest.
Domino effect: David pushed towards the exit
If Zirkzee lands in Turin, the knock-on effect in Juventus’ attack will be immediate. Space must be cleared, and Jonathan David is the primary candidate to make way.
David is no longer seen as untouchable. With Lois Openda heading to Lyon and the expected arrival of Randal Kolo Muani, Juventus consider the Canadian more expendable in the context of a refreshed forward line. The club are ready to sanction his sale for around €30m.
The striker’s own wish is to stay, but market logic is pulling in a different direction. Several clubs have already started to circle: Crystal Palace and Aston Villa have made initial inquiries, while Rennes and Paris FC are showing firm interest from Ligue 1.
