Why Did Cucurella Choose Luis de la Fuente?
Before Spain’s 1-0 extra-time victory against Argentina, Cucurella promised to get a tattoo of De la Fuente if Spain won the final. The coach addressed this during the post-match press conference, admitting some doubt but confidence that the player would keep his word.
"They made a mistake, but they're serious people so they'll keep to their word," De la Fuente said, according to ESPN. "I've already told them, 'Did you make a mistake?' They did, but they'll enjoy it."
He joked about his appearance, saying, "I'm not so terribly ugly that they need to put it somewhere where nobody can see it." De la Fuente also expressed pride in Cucurella's commitment to promises.
The 65-year-old confirmed he has no plans to get a tattoo himself, joking, "I'm not at the age to get tattoos anymore."
