Marcus Rashford has been handed an unexpected route back into the Manchester United story – not on the pitch, but through the cameras about to follow the club’s every move.
United’s hierarchy have invited the forward to be part of the upcoming Amazon documentary, “All or Nothing – Manchester United”, a move that cuts against the recent assumption that the 28-year-old was heading for the exit and hints at a possible softening of the club’s stance.
From outcast to potential leading man?
Rashford has not played a competitive minute for United since December 2024. Once the face of the club’s future, he slipped to the margins after a breakdown in his relationship with former manager Ruben Amorim, triggered when Rashford made clear he wanted to leave his boyhood side.
That admission set off a chain of events. First came a loan to Aston Villa. Then another to Barcelona last season, with the Spanish club holding a £24m option to make the move permanent. They walked away from it.
Barcelona’s decision has thrown Rashford’s career back into uncertainty. He is due to report back to United after his summer break, returning from World Cup duty with England to find a very different Old Trafford – a new manager in Michael Carrick, a new structure under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and a fanbase unsure whether to expect a farewell or a fresh start.

The Amazon invitation that changes the tone
Against that backdrop, the documentary invitation feels significant. United executives have asked Rashford if he wants to be included in the fly-on-the-wall series, part of a multi-million-pound agreement with Amazon. He has yet to give them an answer as he considers his next move.
The offer does more than simply tick a box for star power. It suggests that, at the very least, United are open to Rashford being part of the narrative next season rather than a ghost in the background, quietly sold to the highest bidder to trim the wage bill Ratcliffe has been so keen to reduce.
Cameras have already started rolling as sections of Carrick’s squad return for pre-season, and they will keep rolling through to the end of the coming campaign. This is the access Amazon wanted last season, only to be rebuffed by Amorim, who refused to co-operate.
Carrick, and the new regime above him, have taken a different view. The club insists the project is “aligned with the club’s desire to be as open and transparent as possible” with its vast global support. The series promises unprecedented access to the Old Trafford dressing room and the Carrington training complex – the places where Rashford once felt at home and, in recent years, increasingly alienated.
A career at a crossroads
That is what makes this moment so sharp. Rashford stands at a crossroads, his reputation still carrying weight, his form and role under scrutiny, his options narrowing and opening at the same time.
Stay, and he could find himself back in the heart of a club trying to redefine itself, his story woven into a season that will be documented and dissected in real time. Leave, and the documentary may end up capturing only his final act at Old Trafford – a reminder of what he was, rather than what he might still become.
For now, the cameras are ready. The club is watching. The decision, at last, belongs to Marcus Rashford.
