Erkut Çelebi, head of the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says the Egyptian star’s arrival has triggered a surge in tourism interest in the Black Sea city, stretching far beyond Egypt and across North Africa.

Speaking to local outlet 61saat, Çelebi outlined how the transfer has opened a new window for the city’s economy. Hotels in Trabzon, he noted, typically fill up for only three or four months each year before demand drops sharply. Now, officials see Salah as the catalyst to turn a short, intense season into year-round business.

The plan is simple: ride the wave of global attention around one of football’s biggest names and turn matchdays and fan visits into a permanent attraction. Authorities are already working on ways to harness the influx of interest sparked by Salah’s move and convert it into sustained tourism.

Trabzonspor confirmed the signing of Mohamed Salah last Thursday on a free transfer, with a two-year deal following the expiry of his contract at Liverpool at the end of last season.
