Jose Mourinho Praises Kylian Mbappe After Real Madrid's Convincing 4-1 Win Over Sevilla

Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho shared his thoughts after witnessing Kylian Mbappe score a daring Panenka penalty during their 4-1 triumph against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mbappe's Impact and Memorable Performance

The French forward delivered a standout performance, netting two goals to inspire his team’s win. Early in the second half, Mbappe earned a penalty and confidently chipped the goalkeeper with a Panenka finish, adding flair to an already impressive night where he also completed a clever backheel finish set up by Jude Bellingham.

Mourinho expressed pride in Mbappe's confidence and style, highlighting his key role in the team’s success on home ground.

Mourinho Celebrates Team's Tactical and Individual Strengths

During the post-match press conference, Mourinho emphasized the high quality of his squad’s individual performances and their tactical control throughout the game. He said, "It was a good game globally for Real Madrid with many players at a high individual level. We controlled it from the first to the last minute and scored quality goals. We had a high percentage of possession... today it justified the dominance we had against a good team. It was a beautiful victory."

Squad Rotation and Meritocracy

Mourinho addressed his lineup choices, explaining that rotation was done thoughtfully while maintaining competitive logic. He stated, "Meritocracy is abstract because there’s no way to quantify which 11 players deserve it the most. Many people deserve to play. We created a lot, got the ball to our wide players, and played a great game."

Focus Remains on Upcoming Fixtures

Despite the enthusiasm generated by Mbappe’s penalty and the commanding win, Mourinho kept his focus on future challenges. Real Madrid now look ahead to hosting RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League before returning to La Liga action against Osasuna.
