Como Director Carlalberto Ludi Backs Nico Paz to Take Over Argentina’s Iconic Number 10 Shirt
With Lionel Messi having wrapped up his illustrious international career, the legendary Number 10 jersey for Argentina is now open. Como director of sport Carlalberto Ludi has expressed strong confidence that the promising talent Nico Paz is ready to fill those shoes.
An Emotional Farewell to Messi
Messi’s final game for Argentina ended with a 3-0 win against Benin, a match filled with heartfelt moments both on and off the field. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner scored from the penalty spot in the 71st minute, capping his international tenure with another goal that left fans and teammates visibly moved.
The Search for the Next Number 10
Following Messi’s retirement, attention has turned sharply towards who will carry on the legacy of Argentina’s iconic Number 10 shirt. During the Benin game, Nico Paz made a strong case for himself by delivering a standout performance, including a remarkable goal that helped secure the victory.
Carlalberto Ludi praised Paz as a player who blends technical skill with a top-level mentality, stating to Sky Sport Italia:
"Nico Paz is world class, both in terms of his work ethic and his talent. He understands that a player must earn it every day, but he definitely has what it takes to assume that role. I wish him the brightest possible future."
A Bright Future for Argentina
Replacing a figure as monumental as Messi is no small feat, yet Argentina holds a strong pool of young attacking players poised to lead the national team forward. For now, Paz’s focus remains on his performances at Como. His challenge is to maintain consistent form week after week, earning his place regularly in Argentina’s starting eleven.
