Noni Madueke's Intensive Pre-Season Training in Dubai

Noni Madueke is refusing to waste a single day of his first full pre-season as an Arsenal player.

The 23-year-old winger, signed from PSV Eindhoven for an initial £48.5 million last summer, is heading to Dubai for what amounts to phase two of his summer – a holiday in name only. As reported by Simon Collings, this is where the sun, sand and skyline meet shuttle runs, sprint drills and conditioning blocks.

He has already gone deep into June and July with England, helping them to a third-place finish at the 2026 World Cup. That earned him an extended break from Arsenal. Many players would have taken that invitation to switch off completely.

Madueke has gone the other way.

Rather than easing himself back in with light work and gentle jogs, he has chosen to turn the final stretch of his time off into a personal training camp in the Middle East. Dubai has become the off-season playground of the Premier League, but behind the luxury hotels and private beaches lies a well-trodden circuit of high-end gyms and performance centres. That is where Madueke will spend most of his time.

The plan is clear: warm-weather recovery wrapped around an intensive conditioning programme. He is expected to work with specialist performance coaches on sessions built around sharp changes of direction, explosive acceleration and serious cardiovascular work. Short, violent bursts. Repeated sprints in punishing heat. The kind of work that strips away any hint of rust before a ball is even kicked in pre-season.

For a wide forward whose game relies on sudden bursts and one-on-one dominance, those details matter. Madueke knows he cannot afford to drift into this campaign.

The competition at Arsenal tells its own story. Bukayo Saka, carefully managed for long stretches of last season, is targeting a far more productive 2026/27. Others in Mikel Arteta’s attacking pool will arrive at London Colney desperate to stake their own claims. No one gets a starting shirt on reputation alone.

So Madueke is choosing sweat over comfort. By putting himself through hard yards under the Gulf sun, he is betting that he will report back in peak condition, ready to convince Arteta he should be more than just a squad option.

When his work in Dubai is done, he will rejoin his Arsenal teammates and fold into the collective programme.

How much that extra effort shifts his place in the pecking order will be decided when the real games start.
