Pedri Teases Ferran Torres Before Big PSG vs Barcelona Champions League Clash
Barcelona midfielder Pedri sent a cheeky warning to his friend Ferran Torres as the two prepare for a high-stakes Champions League showdown. The match will pit the Catalan giants against Paris Saint-Germain, highlighting the skill and quality of both sides.
Pedri’s Friendly Warning to Torres
Barcelona face a challenging week under coach Hansi Flick, with crucial fixtures against European champions PSG and their local rivals on the horizon. This game reunites familiar faces like former Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele and current PSG forward Ferran Torres. Pedri joked about his hopes for Torres during the encounter.
"I hope he doesn’t have any luck in this match, that he doesn’t score. I wish him luck for the rest of the season. I have a very good relationship with him and we talk a lot when we’re with the national team," Pedri said.
Reflecting on Dembele’s Growth
Pedri also reminisced about his time playing alongside Dembele at Barcelona, recalling the winger's jaw-dropping talent in training sessions. Although Dembele often showed flashes of brilliance, his early career was marked by inconsistency. According to Pedri, Dembele has now transformed into a consistent, world-class player.
"In training, I saw him do incredible things; he did well, but he was more inconsistent than now that he’s exploded onto the scene and is a world-class player," the 23-year-old said.
Facing the European Heavyweights
Barcelona know they face a tough challenge against a PSG squad that has dominated Europe recently. Managed by Luis Enrique, PSG boasts a well-rounded and tactically sharp team. Pedri emphasized the quality spread throughout the French side.
"They have many qualities up front, they are game-changers and they know how to control the game in midfield. I’m not going to reinvent the wheel, they have won the last two Champions League," he remarked.
A Reality Check Before the Big Game
The Spanish midfielder tempered expectations, insisting the match should not be treated like a final. He stressed the importance of maintaining focus and momentum rather than viewing this fixture as the season’s peak.
"It’s a difficult match against a tough opponent, but it’s not a final. We want to win and maintain our good momentum. This is a match to see where we stand," Pedri explained.
