Pedro Neto's Future at Chelsea: Manchester City Shows Interest

Pedro Neto’s future at Chelsea is suddenly wide open – and some of the Premier League’s biggest hitters are watching closely.

Four top-flight clubs have registered interest in the 26-year-old winger, with Manchester City among the sides tracking the Portugal international. Neto is not seen as one of Chelsea’s “untouchables” at Stamford Bridge, leaving the door open to a possible move before the transfer deadline if a club is prepared to pay.

Chelsea will not make it easy. The London club insist any deal would require a significant fee for a player they signed from Wolves for £54m in 2024. They see the current market for wide forwards as heavily inflated, and recent deals have only hardened that stance.

The £117m paid for Morgan Rogers and Paris St-Germain’s £145m valuation of Bradley Barcola are being used inside Chelsea as reference points.

Those numbers have fed directly into how the club now value Neto, who still has prime years ahead of him and is under no pressure to leave from a contractual standpoint.

City’s interest adds a sharp edge to the story. A move to the Etihad would reunite Neto with Enzo Maresca, his former Chelsea head coach. The pair are understood to share a strong relationship, and Neto was among the players reported to have been frustrated when Maresca left midway through last season.

That connection gives City a potential advantage. But it also strengthens Chelsea’s hand. If they are to lose a winger of Neto’s profile to a direct rival, it will only be on their terms – and at a price that reflects a market gone wild for wide players.
