Paris Saint-Germain Targets Ajax Winger Mika Godts for Attack Reinforcement
Paris Saint-Germain are not easing their foot off the accelerator this summer. Fresh from dropping €50 million on Norwegian forward Magnus Akliouche, the French champions have opened official talks with Ajax over highly rated winger Mika Godts, aiming to sharpen an attack already in full reconstruction.
The move is no tentative enquiry. According to Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, PSG’s hierarchy have made direct contact with Ajax and are now in active negotiations for the 21-year-old Belgian, who is coming off a breakout season in Amsterdam: 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 matches across all competitions. Those are not the numbers of a prospect; they are the numbers of a player ready to step onto a bigger stage.
Campos moves fast – and Godts says yes
The turning point came away from the boardroom. PSG didn’t just wait for club-to-club talks to develop; they went straight to the source.
Sporting advisor Luis Campos held what have been described as “very fruitful” discussions with Godts, outlining the project in Paris and the role the youngster could expect in a squad being reshaped for the post–Kylian Mbappé era. The pitch landed.
Godts made clear his enthusiasm for the plan set out by Campos and his desire to join PSG, effectively giving the French club a crucial advantage before the real haggling with Ajax even hits full speed. When a player pushes this openly for a move, the balance of power shifts.
Ajax cornered by their own success
Ajax, traditionally a selling club but fiercely protective of their best young talent, had hoped to keep Godts for at least another season. His development in Amsterdam has been rapid, and losing him now was never part of the ideal script.
Reality bites. The Dutch side now know the Belgian wants Paris, and that knowledge places them in an awkward position. Hold firm and risk an unhappy player. Compromise and risk selling below what they feel is his true value. Both clubs are chasing a final agreement, but the leverage is no longer evenly split.
If the deal goes through, PSG would add a dynamic, numbers-producing winger at a key moment. The timing matters. Questions still hang over the future of Bradley Barcola, who has drawn serious interest from several Premier League giants. Godts would not just be a luxury signing; he could quickly become a necessity.
After Diomande disappointment, PSG pivot wide again
This push for Godts also carries the weight of a recent miss. PSG had set their sights on Ivorian winger Yan Diomande, whose name had been strongly linked with a move to Paris in recent days. That door is closing fast.
Diomande is now expected to join Real Madrid, handing the reigning Champions League winners another attacking option out wide as they reload for yet another run at every trophy in sight. PSG, denied one target, have simply turned to another.
For the French champions, the equation is clear: they cannot afford to be short on the flanks if they want to compete on all fronts. If Ajax and PSG can find common ground, Mika Godts could be the next piece in a Paris rebuild that is starting to look anything but cautious.
