PSG Withdraws from Zion Suzuki Transfer Deal as Juventus Gains New Opportunity
Paris Saint-Germain have pulled the plug on their move for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki at the last moment, ending a transfer saga that had already seen Juventus step away in frustration.
The French champions were poised to close a deal worth around €35m including add-ons for the Japan international, with a clear plan in place: buy him from Parma, then immediately send him on loan to Juventus for the season. A neat three-club operation, on paper.
It has unravelled in days.
Juventus were the first to lose patience. Irritated by delays and the evolving terms of the proposed loan, the Bianconeri walked away and switched their focus to alternative goalkeeping targets. That decision seemed to leave PSG with a straightforward path to sign Suzuki outright and manage his development themselves.
Instead, the talks imploded.
According to multiple reports, including Fabrice Hawkins and Fabrizio Romano, PSG were already at the stage of exchanging documents and lining up a medical for today. The deal was effectively ready to be wrapped up.
Then came a late twist. Suzuki’s agents are said to have made an additional request at the last minute, a move that angered the Ligue 1 side and triggered an immediate change of stance in Paris. The response from the club was blunt: they walked away from the table and, for now, have no intention of returning.
For Suzuki, who has impressed enough at Parma and with Japan to attract interest at this level, the collapse leaves his future wide open again. For Juventus, the story is not quite over.
With PSG out, Juve suddenly have a clean shot at negotiating directly with Parma if they decide to re-enter the race. The obstacle is obvious: the cost. Matching the financial framework PSG had put together will not be simple for the Turin club, especially after they already backed away once over conditions.
The door is ajar again. Whether Juventus choose to step back through it, at that price, is another matter entirely.
