Rangers Prepare to Part Ways with Bajrami as Al Taawoun Pursues Move

Nedim Bajrami’s Rangers career looks to be heading for the exit door after just one season, with Saudi Pro League side Al Taawoun pushing to take the midfielder this summer.

The Albania international arrived at Ibrox from Sassuolo in August 2024 carrying the weight of expectation and the promise of creativity between the lines. It never truly materialised. Bajrami, now 27, struggled to nail down a place and finished last season with only 12 Scottish Premiership appearances to his name.

In a squad being reshaped with some urgency under Derek McInnes, that simply hasn’t been enough. Bajrami is among a group of players informed they are not in the manager’s plans for the coming campaign, a clear sign of the ruthless edge to Rangers’ summer rebuild.

McInnes and the Ibrox hierarchy are driving a heavy recruitment push to upgrade key areas before the window closes, and moving Bajrami on would clear both squad space and wages for new arrivals. The club have been open to offers, and interest has steadily grown.

Earlier this month, Ibrox News reported that clubs in Italy and Turkey were tracking Bajrami’s situation as he slipped further down the pecking order. Now the picture has sharpened. Sunsport report that Al Taawoun have stepped forward and are in talks over an initial loan deal that would include a future fee of around £2.5 million.

Negotiations are described as ongoing, with Rangers and the Saudi club working on the structure of the agreement. The proposed package would give Al Taawoun the chance to assess Bajrami over the season while offering Rangers a clear route to a permanent sale.

The story may not be straightforward, though. Other interested clubs are understood to be “waiting in the wings”, ready to act if talks with Al Taawoun stall or if the player prefers a different destination, potentially closer to his current European base.

For now, the momentum sits with the Saudi option. A year after walking through the front door at Ibrox, Bajrami stands on the brink of another move, another reset, and the chance to prove that the talent which brought him to Glasgow in the first place still has a stage worthy of it.
