Real Madrid's Position on Endrick Amid Interest from Aston Villa and Others

Endrick started the season with Real Madrid after a strong loan spell at Lyon last year. Questions remain about his role in the squad, mainly because of stiff competition in attack. This uncertainty has sparked interest from clubs like Aston Villa, Roma, and Real Sociedad.

According to AS, coach Jose Mourinho has left it up to Endrick whether to accept another loan. Meanwhile, Trivela reports that selling him is not part of Real Madrid’s plans.

Pre-season Appearances

Endrick featured as a starter during pre-season games. He played 75 minutes and scored in a 2-2 draw against Fiorentina early August. In another match versus Ferencvaros, he was on the field for 64 minutes contributing to a win.

In both matches, he played as the center forward in Mourinho’s 4-2-3-1 system. There is uncertainty about whether he will continue as a number nine or shift to the right wing, the latter being his position during his loan at Lyon. Both spots have tough competition.

Competition for Places

Kylian Mbappe seems unlikely to lose his spot leading the attack. The recently signed Yan Diomande, reportedly costing over €85 million, could take the right-wing role. Others like Brahim Diaz, Arda Guler, Denzel Dumfries, and Bernardo Silva also vie for that position.

Interest from Other Clubs

Several teams have expressed interest in Endrick. Roma has inquired about a possible loan, while Aston Villa has made an offer, led by Unai Emery, to bring him on loan as they prepare for the Champions League. Real Sociedad and some Premier League clubs have also shown interest.

Despite these offers, Real Madrid wants to keep Endrick. According to Trivela, there is no plan to transfer him this window. Since last December, the club’s strategy has been to loan him out temporarily to gain experience and then bring him back without any option for permanent sale.

The situation could change if injuries happen or irresistible offers appear, but currently, neither the club nor Endrick are pushing for a move.

Endrick’s Own Intentions

Before his loan to France, Endrick wanted to remain at Real Madrid. His temporary departure came from a lack of playing time under Xabi Alonso. Despite a good season under Carlo Ancelotti, including inheriting the number nine shirt, he played just 11 minutes in La Liga before going on loan.

At Lyon, Endrick performed well, scoring or assisting 12 goals in 16 league games, plus four goals in five cup and European matches. This success boosted his standing back at Real Madrid.

His return supports his wish to stay, and the club agrees. Now, it’s up to Mourinho to manage how much game time the 20-year-old receives this season.
