Ross Stewart to Miss Four Matches with Quad Injury

Swansea City’s wait to properly unleash Ross Stewart will go on, with the Scotland striker expected to miss the club’s next four matches because of a quad injury.

The 30-year-old sat out Tuesday’s Championship win over Watford, having also missed last Saturday’s victory at Derby County. His Swansea career has barely begun: just one outing so far, a brief substitute appearance in the goalless draw with Sheffield United 11 days ago.

Signed on a three-year deal last month and billed as a major attacking addition, Stewart now faces another spell on the sidelines at a time when Swansea are building momentum without him.

The quad problem is not thought to be serious, but it is significant enough to rule him out of a key run of fixtures. He is expected to miss Saturday’s home game against Wrexham, the trip to former club Southampton next Tuesday, and further clashes with Burnley and Lincoln City before the international break at the end of the month.

“Ross had a soft tissue injury, not massive, but probably he can return in the international break,” said head coach Vitor Matos.

For now, Swansea must continue to find goals without the forward they had hoped would lead their line – and Stewart’s first real impact in a Swans shirt will have to wait until after the break.
