Scott McTominay Out for Month Due to Heart Surgery

Scott McTominay will be out for a month after Napoli revealed the midfielder needs surgery to correct a minor heart issue.

The Serie A champions announced on Tuesday that the 29-year-old has developed a "mild, benign arrhythmia" – an irregular heartbeat that, while not considered dangerous, requires medical intervention.

Napoli confirmed McTominay will undergo corrective ablation surgery (PFA) in the coming days and expect him to be back in contention after the international break.

It is a sharp interruption to the start of his Italian adventure for the former Manchester United player, and a significant blow for Scotland. The midfielder is set to miss all four of Scotland’s Nations League group fixtures: a double-header against Slovenia and one match each against Switzerland and North Macedonia between September 26 and October 6.
