Serie A Transfer Updates: Juventus, Milan, Inter, Napoli, Roma
With Leandro Paredes hit by a 10‑match FIFA ban and the new Serie A season about to kick off, the transfer market has reached its most volatile stretch. Deals are collapsing, others are being pushed over the line, and several big names are being quietly moved toward the exit.
Here’s where Italy’s top clubs stand as the clock ticks down.
Juventus circle Musso as keeper dominoes fall
Juventus are bracing for a reshuffle in goal.
Michele Di Gregorio is on the verge of joining Bournemouth, while Mattia Perin looks set for Palermo. That leaves Juve hunting for a new backup behind Guglielmo Vicario, and one name has moved to the forefront: Juan Musso.
Tuttosport report that the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is firmly on the Bianconeri’s list. The problem? Napoli have already moved first.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Napoli not only lead the race, they also have Musso’s approval and are working on a swap deal involving Alex Meret’s deputy Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and the Argentine. If that operation goes through, Juventus may be forced to rip up their goalkeeping plan and start again.
Milan leave Fofana, Nkunku, Gimenez and Tomori in limbo
At Milan, the message has arrived not with words, but with numbers. Or rather, the absence of them.
The club have officially confirmed squad numbers for the new season. Four notable names are missing: Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana, Marco Pellegrino Gimenez and Alex Jimenez Nkunku do not feature on the list.
The unofficial hints were already there; now the break is explicit. With the league starting this weekend and the quartet still without numbers, their departures look no longer probable, but practically inevitable. Milan have drawn a line. The market must do the rest.
Inter lean toward keeping Pavard as Bovio signs on
At Inter, the tone is very different. Stability, not upheaval.
Benjamin Pavard now appears increasingly likely to stay. New coach Cristian Chivu made his satisfaction clear in his press conference, praising the Frenchman’s attitude and performances: Pavard, he said, “is doing a great job” and has fully made himself available to the group, playing matches “at a certain level”.
On another front, the Nerazzurri have tied down one of their own. The renewal of young defender Alexandro Bovio has been confirmed, and Romano reports that he is expected to remain at the club this season. That said, Inter will reassess his situation in the final hours of the window if an opportunity arises. For now, though, the plan is continuity, not a loan exit.
Napoli complete Obaretin deal with Lorient
Napoli have quietly wrapped up a defensive outgoing.
As reported by Alfredo Pedullà and Fabrizio Romano, the club have completed the transfer of central defender Obaretin to Lorient. The French side beat competition from Sturm Graz, with the player having also been linked to Genoa back in July.
The agreement is a loan with an option to buy set at €3.5 million, plus a percentage on any future resale. A clean, structured deal, and one more file closed on Napoli’s desk as they focus on Musso and the goalkeeping shake-up.
Roma blocked on Fofana and stalled on Luis Henrique
Roma’s market, by contrast, is running into financial walls.
According to Il Tempo, the Giallorossi came very close to signing Fofana in a deal worth €35 million plus bonuses. The ownership, though, reportedly stepped in and blocked the move, wary of the immediate financial impact after the outlay for Rodrigo Mora and mindful of the club’s overall economic constraints.
The same tension runs through talks for Luis Henrique. Il Messaggero report that Roma like the player and want him, but there is still no agreement on the structure of the deal. The desire is there; the money, at least for now, is not moving in step.
Lazio hand the gloves to Mandas
Lazio have made a clear call in goal.
With Ivan Provedel gone, Corriere dello Sport write that the club intend to trust Christos Mandas as their new first-choice goalkeeper. That decision effectively cools talk of Mandas leaving immediately.
Rumours had suggested Juventus were exploring a move for him as a backup to Vicario, a profile the Bianconeri appreciate. Lazio’s stance pushes those whispers into the background. Mandas will start the season in Rome with the No 1 role in his hands.
Fiorentina set a high bar for any Kean replacement
In Florence, everything hangs on one name: Moise Kean.
Fiorentina are prepared for the possibility of selling the striker to Como, as reported by FirenzeViola. But there is a clear condition: he will only be allowed to leave if a suitable replacement is secured first.
And “suitable” is no euphemism. Fabio Paratici does not want a downgrade. The idea is to bring in a forward at least on Kean’s level – preferably higher – in line with the upgrades already made across other areas of the squad during this window.
The market is racing toward its final days. Contracts are ready, medicals are being pencilled in, and phones are never silent. The question now is simple: who blinks first, and who walks into the new season strengthened, not short-handed?
