Tegan Bowie Joins Parma Calcio: A New Chapter Begins
Tegan Bowie’s Hibernian story is over. Italy is calling.
The 22-year-old winger has completed a permanent move to Serie A side Parma Calcio after the Italian club triggered a release clause in her contract, ending a key chapter in Hibs’ recent resurgence.
From academy prospect to title winner
Bowie’s departure cuts deep because her journey is stitched into the fabric of the club. She came through the Hibs academy as a youngster before heading to Celtic, then made her way back to Edinburgh in 2023, a return that proved decisive for both player and team.
Back at Easter Road, she didn’t just fill a squad role. She grabbed a starting place and kept it. Across her time with Hibs she made 101 appearances and scored nine goals, but the raw numbers only tell part of the story.
Last season, when Hibs drove themselves over the line in a title-winning campaign in 2024-25, Bowie became one of the side’s main attacking outlets. She struck five times and laid on 10 assists, a constant source of width, energy and menace on the flank. When Hibs needed someone to stretch games and unlock defences, she was often the one doing it.
A clause that bit hard
For head coach Joelle Murray, the transfer is a reminder of how modern contracts can shape a club’s destiny as much as any tactical tweak.
"I'm disappointed to see Tegan leave under a clause that was in her contract from summer 2025," Murray told club media, a line that says plenty about how keen Hibs were to keep her.
The frustration is obvious. Hibs had helped mould a player who arrived back in Edinburgh with promise and leaves with presence. Murray underlined that growth, praising how Bowie has “grown and developed massively” both as a footballer and as a person. The sense is clear: this is a player leaving with her game on an upward curve.
A player ready for the leap
For Bowie, Parma is not just a new club; it is a new country, a new league, and a different kind of pressure. Serie A offers a fresh stage and a different tactical landscape, but she heads there with a strong platform.
Her own words hint at why she has been able to make this jump. Bowie thanked Hibs and spoke about experiencing some of her favourite memories with the team, highlighting how the freedom to express herself on the pitch had been central to her development. That licence to play, to take risks, to attack, has turned her into exactly the kind of wide player Italian clubs increasingly covet.
Murray, despite the disappointment, chose to look ahead on Bowie’s behalf, wishing her “nothing but success” in this next chapter and hoping she can continue her “incredible personal growth” in Parma and beyond.
Hibs now face the challenge of replacing not just Bowie’s output, but her personality in big moments. Parma, on the other hand, are betting that a winger forged in Edinburgh’s pressure and crowned by a title can bring that same edge to Serie A.
The release clause has done its work. The question now is how far Tegan Bowie can run with the opportunity it has created.
